GHK Peptide: Research & Evidence

Early-Stage Research

Published research, clinical trial data, and evidence grading for GHK Peptide across studied indications.

Back to GHK Peptide overview

Research Summary

GHK (without copper) has essentially zero confirmed human clinical data. The gene expression claims driving its marketing are based on in vitro studies, many of which actually used GHK-Cu rather than the copper-free peptide. Most published human wound healing and skin aging data pertains to GHK-Cu (the copper complex), not GHK alone. There are zero confirmed human RCTs for copper-free GHK. The critical evidence gap is whether GHK without copper retains any meaningful biological activity — the copper ion appears essential for most characterized effects.

Evidence by Indication (3 indications)

Indication Tier Trials Summary
Gene expression modulation Tier D 0 In vitro data only — most studies used GHK-Cu, not GHK alone
Skin aging/wound healing Tier D 0 No copper-free GHK human trials — all data from GHK-Cu studies
Anti-inflammatory effects Tier D 0 Cell culture data only — not tested in humans

Research Gap Score /10

Higher score = larger gap between therapeutic potential and available clinical evidence.
